Colour Scale

Using colour to change our spaces is one of the easies and cheapest ways. We can alter the scale or size of our rooms by using the right colour combinations. Light Colours and Dark colours will make rooms appear differently... let's review a few examples.

Light Room / Warm Colour
This shows the use of a light and warm color… The walls are treated with a warm golden cream. It illuminates this space – and creates the look of a natural glow of light. Other features in this space… such as the light, painted tone of the furniture keeps the entire room luminous and shimmering
Light Room / Cool Colour
This quiet sitting area is treated with a light color as well… but in this case, it is a cool color that adds a breezy quality to the space. It provides the feeling of freshness and radiance. Remember that cool colors recede away from us – making a space feel larger.
Dark Room / Warm Colour
We now move to the darker side… now we have a much more somber feeling… yet the application works beautifully. This bedroom incorporates a warm, burgundy color for resonant drama. The warmth of the color makes the wall area feel as if it is advancing towards us… sort of wrapping us up with warmth.
Dark Room / Cool Colour
Continuing on our exploration of dark colors… we look to a cool, dark color in this contemporary living area… this room illustrates the use of a deep blue color which adds sophistication. The cool color, though dark, still recedes away from us… adding depth and a dimension of distance.
